Students Return To Class After Shooting Near OSU

Tuesday morning, officials lifted the lockdown and students were allowed to attend class as usual. A robbery and shooting near the campus of Oklahoma State University late Monday resulted in an alert and a search for a gunman, police said. Police confirmed to Eyewitness News 5 that the shooting was the result of an off-campus robbery near 4th and Lincoln. According to police, 20-year-old Kasey Cook returned home to find a man hiding in his closet. Cook told police the robber took his backpack with his computer and was shot. The robber was described to police as an African-American man in his early 20s standing 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 230 pounds and donning dreadlocks. Witnesses told police the man was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and carrying a black and green backpack. A mass voice-mail message was sent to most students. According to the Stillwater police report, Cook was taken to the Stillwater Medical Center for treatment and was listed in good condition.
