Officers locked down the surrounding area overnight, but their search came up empty. According to police reports, the stores owner was still working Friday morning to determine exactly how many guns were inside the safe, and if anything else was missing. Officers responded to the burglary after an alarm went off just before 2 a.m. Friday at Advanced Electronics in the 8700 block of Robbins Road, near the intersection of Zionsville Road and 86th Street. The business sells and installs high end commercial and residential electronics, including audio, video and home security and surveillance equipment. Officers at the scene told 24-Hour News 8 it appears the burglars got inside by breaking the lock on a window. The first responding officer to the scene saw one white male dressed in all black parked behind the building as he pulled up. According to police reports, the suspect then saw the officer and ran out the front door of the business, leaving a gray pickup truck behind. Police have now impounded that vehicle. The owner of the business told police the burglary was also captured on surveillance video that shows at least three suspects inside the building at one point. K9 units were called to the scene overnight as police set up a perimeter in the heavily industrial area. Officers swept the area for more than an hour and handlers tell 24-Hour News 8 that dogs did pick up a scent. But, the search ended without a suspect in custody. Officers remained on the scene early Friday morning collecting evidence and fingerprinting the building.
